Misfortunes at East Fortune for some saw championship leader board changes, after Simon Horton's Wintec 1100 Suzuki had an excursion to the Scottish countryside in qualifying, ending his racing weekend. This allowed John Shipley / Milo Ward (Ireson 1000 Yamaha) to head the charge against the the fifteen strong grid to earn a maximum sixty points with four wins. Joe Heys / Gary Wheeler (1200 Heys Kawasaki), kept the Yamaha mounted pair honest, with a hat trick of second places – leading the way on a number of occasions.

The pack of 600cc machines took up the following chase, led by Hayley Capewell / Helen Deeley (600 Windle Yamaha), and championship newcomers Stewart Mayhew / Alan Taylor (600 Honda). Also in the mix at the sharp end were the 600 outfits of Jody / Reece Sims (600 Derbshire Yamaha) and Doug Chandler - changing to driver from passenger for the first time on his brothers 600 Ireson Yamaha - with passenger Adam Nix (John Chandler was unable to attend this round, owing to family commitments). Wesley Pettman (600 Windle Yamaha) travelled all the way from Kent, with regular passenger Sue Taylor, improved their championship position with consistent finishing in all four races. However, Gerald Hodgson had the longest journey to attend - commuting from Cyprus (!) for the weekend to do this meeting with his son Daniel, which reaped dividends, with the pair scoring points in every race. After sorting out their machines brake problems, Mark Burns / Steve Winfrow (900 Baker Honda) improved their race position finishes over the weekend.

Newcomers to the championship – Giles / Jen Stainton - swapped their British F2 LCR Suzuki for a carbed DMR600 Honda, however their weekend was hampered with teething problems as they got to grips with their new machine. Also suffering engine problems during the weekend were Ian Sutcliffe / Rob Bryant (600 Jacobs Yamaha); Alan Longshaw / Amanda Miles (600 Ireson Yamaha) and Dave Tibbles / Raitch Greenwood (FJ1100 Yamaha).

This was the best ever turnout for the F.S.R.A. / Lane Building Services Pre-Injection championship at the popular Scottish circuit and not for the first time this year we had our own racing grid – with a healthy turnout of Pre-Injection and Scottish Championship Sidecars to make it a memorable weekend's racing. Thank you to Melville Motor Club for making us so welcome and providing us all with a great weekend.

The Championship is still not decided, and now heads for it's final round at Cadwell Park with the Auto 66 Club at their “Sidecar Bash” on the 27th and 28th October. Thank you, as always, to Pagid Brakes and Lane Building Services for their continuing support of our championship.
