Tonfanau update

**EASTER MEETING UPDATE**
After a thorough site inspection today, 17th March, it is with regret that we must announce the cancellation of our Easter Meeting due to be held on Sunday 31st March 2024.

Due to the prolonged wet weather in the area, the paddock and spectator areas are not in a condition that would make it possible to use them over the bank holiday weekend.

Oliver’s mount speed controlled trial laps.

From Dan Clark via 243 Racing

Oliver’s Mount speed-controlled sidecar trial laps for those wanting to try out this fabulous real road circuit before entering for a full weekend of racing there.

Expressions of interest are being invited from ACU Clubman/National sidecar licence holders to take part on Saturday 13th April in 4 laps at controlled speed behind regular Oliver’s Mount sidecar teams.

The track is 2.43 miles in length and the controlled laps will only be two short of a full race distance. Speed controlled doesn’t mean a dawdle but will be at a safe speed to let wannabe Oliver’s Mount competitors get a taste of what a great circuit this is at a very reasonable cost.

The cost will be £50 per team (that is 4 adults, with any under 16s having free entry) and includes free entry to Oliver’s Mount for the full weekend and free camping/motorhome/caravan passes.
It also includes free pedestrian entry to the sidecar paddock so you can talk to all the sidecar race competitors if you want to.

Entrants will be parked in the top field of the circuit where there are all the usual facilities, trade/food stands and a large marquee with a bar and entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Note: Because of circumstances beyond the organiser’s control your transporter must be under 3.5 metres high to get in if arriving on Friday, or weigh no more than 3.5 ton if arriving on Saturday.

It is hoped that teams will all be gathered in the same area and, if you wish, you can put your outfits on show for the spectators to have a look and ask questions about your machines and sidecar racing in general, you never know where your next sponsor may come from.

If you want to enter and have a great weekend at Oliver’s Mount please email the organisers at 243rra@gmail.com

• First-ever sidecar Shoot-Out announced for the 81st Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport.

• The 81st Members’ Meeting will take place Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April 2024.

• Tickets are on sale at goodwood.com and can be purchased by Members and Fellows of the Goodwood Road Racing Club.

Goodwood is excited to announce that the 81st Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport will host a competitive on-track battle with an impressive collection of sidecars going head-to-head in a Shoot-Out. Taking to the Goodwood Motor Circuit for the very first time, up to eight modern racing sidecars will assemble for an exhilarating on-track contest. Keeping spectators on the edge of their seats, the competition will showcase a combination of high speeds, tight turns, and the necessity for precise teamwork between driver and passenger, with the Shoot-Out also marking the first-time contemporary vehicles have competitively taken to the Motor Circuit for a public event since 1966.

Spectators can expect to see a variety of sessions taking place across the weekend, from qualifying and head-to-head battles, to the top four drivers taking on the first-ever sidecar Shoot-Out.

Goodwood is delighted to be working alongside eight-time Superside FIM World Sidecar Champion Tim Reeves on bringing together an impressive collection of sidecars from across the racing disciplines. A prominent figure in British sidecar racing, Reeves is renowned for co-piloting alongside Patrick Farrance, Ashley Hawes and younger brother Tristan Reeves. The sidecar showdown will welcome some of the most iconic drivers and passengers including 14-time TT winner and three-time FIM World Champion Ben Birchall and two-time FIM World Champions Emmanuel Clement and Todd Ellis.

Tim Reeves, eight-time Superside FIM World Sidecar Champion, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work alongside the Goodwood Content Team on bringing such a spectacular collection of sidecars. With incredible speed, high adrenaline and nail-biting cornering, Sunday’s Sidecar Shoot-Out will definitely bring something new to the Goodwood Members’ Meeting.”

The competition will take place across the weekend – with the Shoot-Out taking place on Sunday – and joins the previously announced Canadian-American Cup demonstration and full race schedule for the 81st Members’ Meeting.

Mallory Park

May 6th & October 13th

Words from Lynda Lockey

Get your teeth into this one! It’s back!!!! The much loved Dongo trophy returns to Mallory Park this year.

Jonny Luebke of Dirty Weekender Campervans has been in talks with Natalie at Mallory and EMRA, with a view to holding a meeting at the beginning of May.

It would be an excellent opportunity to gain TT signatures, although it will be open to everyone and will be an absolute winner to have sidecars back on this prestigious circuit!
